Continental Teves in Ebbw Vale is one of the world’s leading automotive industry suppliers. Founded in 1871, the company operates across 39 countries and is the second largest automotive supplier in Europe. The plant produces automotive brake calipers for high performance vehicles.
When npower Business Solutions (nBS) first began working with Continental Teves back in 2008, the energy supplier was asked to provide a site-wide solution that would help to reduce energy usage without impeding production. Key to the plan was to get the most from the available on-site knowledge.
How did nBS help Continental Teves to achieve its goal?
nBS installed 35 electricity meters which were linked to nBS’s unique Pulse data collection unit to collect and analyse consumption data. The output from this was then fed into nBS’s internet-based analytical software suite.
Why did it work so well?
A close working relationship between both companies and a deep working knowledge of energy consumption at Continental Teves.
The results
The implementation enabled an ROI plan to spend £100,000 in order to save £100,000 over the course of one year. The review report then uncovered a further 20% saving opportunity across all the projects evaluated
