Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement
As you may be aware, Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) is set to revolutionise the UK’s electricity systems and processes, to provide the flexibility needed to support the nation’s transition to net zero.
The programme’s objective is to build towards a more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable energy future, by encouraging a more flexible use of energy, and ultimately helping consumers to lower their invoices.
MHHS will see the energy industry work together, to significantly reform how the electricity market operates, from generation and distribution to consumption and storage, in support of the transition to a low-carbon, net zero industry for our customers and their businesses. In short, MHHS aims to:
- Make the settlement process more accurate and timelier
- Act as an enabler for the introduction of new products and services to move usage away from peak demand periods
- Encourage innovation to deliver a smarter and more flexible electricity system
- Save consumers money on their energy invoices
We will be contacting all of our valued customers and energy consultants in due course, when we have further details to share on key milestones and timings as the programme progresses. In the meantime, if you have any immediate questions, please raise them with us, or for more information and progress on the MHHS project, please visit the UK programme website.
