My Energy Coach - glossary of features

  • Actual versus estimated data – in-platform interactive data analysis

Expert-level users can analyse actual versus estimated data directly within the platform via an interactive widget:
    • Visualisation types: stacked bar, pie chart, or combined
    • View aggregated splits for single or multiple meters
    • Identify the proportion of estimated versus actual data for quick quality assessments
    • Downloadable results match the data export format for consistency

  • Actual versus estimated data export
The actual versus estimated feature in My Energy Coach provides visibility into the quality of consumption data by identifying whether values are based on confirmed meter readings (actual) or calculated/approximated values (estimated).

All users can export data with actual/estimated markers included. In the exported Excel, an extra column follows each time period column, showing whether each value is actual or estimated. For aggregated views (hourly, daily, weekly, etc.), if any data point within that period is estimated, the whole aggregated value is marked as estimated.

  • Dynamic energy reporting

My Energy Coach offers a fully dynamic reporting experience, with data updating daily (Day +1) to ensure users have access to the most current insights. This near real-time visibility allows businesses to monitor energy performance across all sites in their portfolio with confidence and precision.

The platform provides a live, constantly updating view of energy and carbon data, enabling users to make informed decisions quickly.

Whether you're tracking electricity, gas, or CO₂ emissions, the system ensures that your reporting reflects the latest available data supporting proactive energy management and continuous improvement.

  • Energy consumption analysis
This feature should only be used for representing consumption data. It allows you to analyse your consumption with different granularity at a single meter level, and enables you to switch views to compare up to 15 different meter profiles against your selected meter, or compare to a historical time interval.

Available in Apprentice, Practitioner and Expert levels

  • Energy use heatmaps
When selecting multiple sites, comparisons can be visualised in both bar chart and table views. The heat map allows you to see the profile of consumption and spot areas of interest visually.

  • Extensive catalogue of energy widgets
Widgets are the most important aspect of dashboards. They are the building blocks or tools that are available to you to create bespoke dashboards for your particular use case. Once you are ready to add a widget, head to the ‘+’ sign in the top-right corner to see the complete widget selection available to you (from charts to various analyses).

My Energy Coach has an ever-evolving library of widgets, with new additions being added over time in response to customer needs.

  • Flexible suite of alerting tools
Users can configure custom alerts directly from their dashboard to monitor key energy metrics, such as data completeness, night-time usage targets, or absolute consumption thresholds. My Energy Coach includes a dedicated alerting engine and dashboard that enables proactive energy management.

If email notifications are enabled, clicking the link in the alert email will take the user directly to their My Energy Coach dashboard. The relevant information will be automatically highlighted for quick reference and action.

  • Flexible tagging tool
One very useful feature within My Energy Coach is tagging. This feature allows users to label sites and meters with unique tags which helps the user to quickly select data by using the search bars provided to filter large organisational structures.

Using tags in My Energy Coach, users have an effective way to quickly filter and select specific meter or site information if they have multiple meters across a single site. Tags can also be used to select common groupings of meter data across multiple sites, or users can set up user-defined tags independently.

  • Fully customisable, dynamic dashboards
All dashboards are fully editable, and can be cloned to provide users with efficient ways to create powerful views related to specific use cases. There is an intuitive user interface to enable quick layout changes and to modify widget sizes to present users with tailored views.

Dashboards are easy to set up and can also be shared with colleagues.

  • Fully flexible graph tool
This tool enables users to configure and overlay any meter/channel in My Energy Coach, creating customised charts for adhoc reporting.

It supports combining multiple meter types (e.g. import polled channels / export polled channels) aggregating multiple meters of the same type.

Available in Apprentice, Practitioner and Expert levels

  • Key performance indicator (KPI) analysis and benchmarking
This visualisation allows users to create and make use of additional business data to normalise data or combine specific meter readings to obtain meaningful metrics on assets for use cases such as boiler or combined heat and power (CHP) efficiencies.

    Available in Expert level

  • Load/agreed supply capacity analysis

This widget is a single value widget which shows maximum load as a percentage of the agreed supply capacity (ASC) for a selected period.

Please note that for some users on supply with us, the ASC will be automatically populated, and others will need to populate it themselves when creating the widget.

The widget includes the Red/Amber/Green (RAG) status of percentage of load used, which allows users to adjust the agreed supply capacity, if necessary.

Furthermore, the widget also clarifies the date and timestamp of the maximum consumption interval over the period.

Available in Practitioner and Expert levels

  • Multiple user access
Users in My Energy Coach are individually authenticated through a single sign on process which means each user of My Energy Coach must have their own set of log on credentials.

My Energy Coach allows multiple users within the same company access to the platform to view the entire customer portfolio or personalised portfolios upon request to the My Energy Coach team. At time of program set up please mention these requirements

Available in Apprentice, Practitioner and Expert levels

  • Portfolio analysis and ranking tables
Visualise the year-on-year performance comparison of your main utility portfolio in both a map and a table format.

In the map, you can see specific site values with a performance RAG based on percentage change tolerances, and the table allows ranking of worst and best performance by name, kilowatt hour (kWh) values, kWh difference or percentage change.

Selecting a site in the table will take you to the consumption analysis dashboard. Maps are interactive views and have the ability to select a site and see the basic comparison data. Performance percentage bands can be set by the user to influence the sensitivity of the colour banding.

    Available in Expert level

  • Profile analysis and anomaly visualisation
The target-based anomaly dashboard shows an overview of your sites and displays total, target and excess consumption against defined or predicted target values. With the help of an alert function, you are informed about deviations and can initiate timely corrective measures.

    Available in Expert level

  • Seasonal analysis
This widget provides a chronological visual representation of an average seasonal profile or a weekly profile for a specific meter.

The data output can be either in the form of an average line or a plot of all data points across an hourly scale.

This widget can easily show trends in asset efficiencies across different seasons, for instance, and the seasonal analysis dashboard provides an average daily consumption pattern for your site.

    Available in Expert level

  • Site benchmarking/ranking
This feature normalises the main utilities metering with a kWh, CO2 or cost per square metre (m2).

The visualisation can be seen in a bubble view, and the selected sites are seen in relation to each other and against the average benchmark for the selected group.

A table view provides the ranking of the specific locations, and an alternative scatter graph view can be selected, allowing the user to see the value per m2 , helping them to quickly identify variations in the data sets.

Available in Practitioner and Expert levels

  • Temperature analysis
The temperature analysis tab lets you view your energy consumption in kWh alongside outside temperature data, as well as calculated heating and cooling degree days, all for a single meter. This is a powerful way to understand how weather conditions may be influencing your energy usage.

The reference point used to calculate Heating Degree Days (HDD) and Cooling Degree Days (CDD) is 15.5 degrees Celsius (°C).
