Offering back to the communities we supply | npower Business Solutions

“As an energy supplier, it’s a privilege to have a positive impact on the communities we serve,” says Anthony Ainsworth, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at npower Business Solutions (nBS). “And through our Social Value Team, we’re able to target meaningful support in partnership with the public sector purchasing organisations we supply.”

For example, in 2025, £100,000 will go to LASER Energy to donate to food bank charities. A third of this will go directly to local food banks nominated by some public sector groups who receive their energy through the LASER/nBS energy framework. And the remaining £67,000 will go to Trussell, the UK’s largest food bank charity which operates in many towns and cities throughout the UK.

Sadly, the need for food banks is growing. Last year (2023/24), Trussell provided 3.1-million emergency food parcels to people in need – which is more than three times the number supplied 10 years ago (2013/14).

Overall, it’s estimated that more than nine million people in the UK experience levels of poverty and hunger so extreme they have to rely on charity food handouts. This includes a staggering 20% of all children in England.

"Your support makes it possible for us to be there for people during their hardest moments, offering more than just food – it brings hope, dignity, and relief to those in financial crisis,” says a spokesperson for Trussell. “Your generosity ensures that funds go where they're needed most, enabling the food banks within our network to provide compassionate, practical support and advice throughout this winter."

Providing community support is a key objective for LASER Energy. “Together with nBS, we're proud to contribute to Trussell’s important work and make a real difference in the lives of those in need,” says Kathleen Reid, LASER.
